Speaking Engagements
As a transformational speaker, Terryl sparks imagination and curiosity weaving Story to enliven discussions of timely, pertinent and well researched topics. Deeply philosophic she adds the spices of gentle humor and perspective to enlighten and embolden each person’s actions as they navigate their chosen path in life.
Terryl excites her listeners with possibilities and connections that engender a sense of wonder at the majesty and beauty in our lives. She shares lessons that she has learned from observing as others have traversed triumph and tragedy in their lives. She even adds the insights she has had in watching the bees, chickens and worms who share the farm on which she lives. Through these revelations she hopes to add a bit of light to the path of each person’s heroic journey, with the fruit of that effort netting equanimity and long view in times of need.
Terryl cultivates each person’s personal strengths and inner wisdom. In collaborative exploration of topics as diverse as beekeeping for health, outlining a path through traditional western medicine, parenting-by “childing,” exploring the merits and caveats of adjunctive healing modalities, she challenges each person to shore up their “can-do” attitude to guard against the hopelessness and despair which result when we are convinced that there is nothing we can do as individuals to impact our own or the world’s problems.
With fresh perspective, new solutions to old and overwhelming problems becomes easier to see. She motivates each person to formulate action steps such as do-able sustainable living habits to help reverse humanity’s burden on the environment.
Terryl draws on her background as a yoga and yoga dance instructor, physician trained in emergency medicine, psychiatry, and occupational medicine, reiki teacher and metaphysical wanderer, to lend perspective to the topic chosen. From her childhood experiences growing up with close connections to her grandparents, with whom she spent summers on their farm, she shares the wisdom learned from her grandfather’s story telling. Orphaned at nine, of native American lineage, a farmer by trade, he instilled a love of the land and nature.
Her goal as a speaker is to have each person in the audience carry away a fresh perspective with tools, tips and insights to aid them as they fashion their most fulfilling life.
